What are data compressions?

Compress your data files monthly. Did you know that old data can cause AutoStik to slow down or result in corrupt files? Many common tech support issues can be avoided by compressing your data files. We recommend that you make sure you are compressing specific data files at least monthly. We recommend compressing: Dealer Data, Invoice Data, and Vehicle Data. To compress your data files: 1) Select Tools --> Maintenance --> Compress Data Files. 2) Select Dealer Data, and wait for the compression to finish. This may take a few minutes. 3) Repeat the process for Invoice Data. 4) Repeat the process for Vehicle Data. If you haven't compressed your data in a while, this may take over night to complete. Compressing Data Files When You Cannot Login to AutoStik: 1) Open the operations control panel for AutoStik. To do so, highlight AutoStik on your desktop, hold the Shift key for a few seconds then double click on the AutoStik icon while still holding shift. 2) Highlight "Compress Data Files" then select "OK". These data compressions may need to run overnight.
