My boss received all of these overlays from someone at the home office, where did it come from and how do I use them? Do I have to use them all?

Overlays are being created in 3 sizes (thumbnail, showcase, and supersize) by Anthony Fullam. You only need to use the one you need, such as showcase. All sizes are sent automatically.
