How do I create a pricing rule (updated 12/2/14)
This option will raise or lower the price of the selected vehicles by the same dollar amount (all prices will be raised or lowered by $500.00, for example) or percentage.
-
In IVM, go to Settings and select Rules from the left side of the page. Click the Pricing tab. This will load the Pricing Rules page.
-
Click the "Add" button just underneath the dealership address. The Add Pricing Rule page will come up.
-
Put a brief description of what the rule is for in the Description box. This is required and will be the title of the rule on the Rules page. This does not go out in any feeds.
-
Example: Decrease New Buicks $500
-
-
The default for the Start Date is the current date. To change this, click the calendar button to the right of the "Start Date" box. Select the date of the day BEFORE you need the changed prices to appear on the websites if not using the current date.
-
This is because the rules process just before the nightly feeds. Data partners process the feeds the next morning, so the change won't show until the next day.
-
-
"End Date" should be set to the date of the day BEFORE you want the rule to stop applying to the websites. If the rule should be on-going, just skip this field.
-
"Action" - select 'Increase by' if your rule should raise vehicle prices or 'Decrease by' if the rule should lower the prices.
-
"Dollar or Percent" should be set to Dollars if you want the price changed by a dollar amount or Percent. "Amount" should be the dollar amount (500 for example description) or percentage amount (5 for a 5% change).
-
NOTE: No dollar signs, percent signs, or decimals should be used here.
-
-
Click the green Save button to bring up the "Add/Edit Criteria" window. This page allows you to specify which vehicles will be affected by the rule:
-
"All/New/Used/Certified" - if New is selected, the rule will only apply to New inventory, Used applies to Used only, etc.
-
"Days On Lot" - allows the dealer to specify a minimum and maximum age range for the vehicles.
-
"Price" - allows the dealer to specify a minimum and maximum price range for the vehicles.
-
"Mileage" - allows the dealer to specify minimum and maximum mileage range.
-
"Enter Stock#s separated by commas or use * as a wildcard. Example is F*, F*A, or *AA." - allows the dealer to list specific vehicles by stock number or stock number type.
-
"Year" - is used to specify vehicle years. You can limit the rule to all 2010 models, for example, by selecting 2010 in both drop-down boxes.
-
Other options that can be used to limit which vehicles are affected by the rule are "Make", "Model", "Trim", "Drive Type", "Engine" "Fuel Type", "Segment", "Size Segment","Transmission", "VIN" (specifies VINs), "MPG", and "Photo Count Minimum".
-
NOTE: VINs and Stock numbers should be separated with commas.
-
-
When the desired options have been selected, click Save. You should get a message at the top of the screen that says "The changes have been successfully saved". If you go back to Settings and select Rules then Pricing, your new rule should now display on that page.
-
NOTE: Pricing rules will not apply to any VIN that already has a Pricing Rule in place. Pricing rules apply in order from top to bottom when the rules processor runs, so the most restrictive rules should be at the top.
