How can I increase/decrease prices globally for vehicles in VinMotion?
This option will raise or lower the price of the selected vehicles by the same dollar amount (all prices will be raised or lowered by $500.00, for example) or percentage.
-
In VinMotion, go to System Preferences -> Rules and select the Pricing tab. This will load the Pricing Rules page.
-
Click the "Add" button (green + sign) at the upper left of the page. The Add Pricing Rule page will come up.
-
Select the Start Date (should be the day BEFORE the updated price should show on websites, unless the website gets midday feeds). Select the End Date (should be the day BEFORE prices should be restored on the website, unless the website gets midday feeds). If the End Date is left blank, the rule will stay active unless it is manually disabled.
-
Put a brief description of what the rule is for in the Description box. This is required and will be the title of the rule on the Rules page. This does not go out in any feeds. Example: Decrease New Buicks $500
-
"Action" - select 'Increase by' if your rule should raise vehicle prices or 'Decrease by' if the rule should lower the prices.
-
Put the dollar amount to be changed into the 'Amount' field (500 for the example description) or percentage amount (5 for a 5% change). NOTE: no dollar signs, percent signs, or decimals should be used here.
-
"Dollar or Percent" should be set to Dollars, if you want the price changed by a dollar amount or Percent, if you want the price changed by a percentage.
-
In the right-hand column underneath 'Add Criteria' is a list of criteria you can use to limit which vehicles will be affected by the new rule. For example, if you click Condition, it will expand to show a drop-down box where All/New/Used/Certified can be selected. If New is selected, the rule will only apply to New inventory, Used applies to Used only, etc. When a Criteria is selected, it will appear in the Criteria box at the lower left of the page. If an incorrect Criteria is selected, the X on the box at the lower left can be clicked to remove that selection.
-
"Age Range" - allows the dealer to specify a minimum and maximum age range for the vehicles.
-
"Net Price" - allows the dealer to specify a minimum and maximum price range for the vehicles.
-
"Mileage" - allows the dealer to specify minimum and maximum mileage range.
-
"Other" - allows the dealer to enter VINs separated by commas or use * as a wildcard. Example is F*, F*A, or *AA." to select specific vehicles to which the rule will apply.
-
"Year" - is used to specify vehicle years. You can limit the rule to all 2010 models, for example, by only checking the box for 2010.
-
Other options that can be used to limit which vehicles are affected by the rule are "Make", "Model", "Trim", "Drive Type", "Engine", "Fuel Type", "Segment", "Size Segment", "Transmission", "VIN Exclusion" (specifies VINs to block from the rule), and "Photo Count Minimum"
-
NOTE: VINs should be separated with commas.

When the desired options have been selected, click Save. You should get a message at the top of the screen that says "The changes have been successfully saved". If you go back to Settings and select Rules then Pricing, your new rule should now display on that page.
-
NOTE: Multiple Pricing rules can apply to the same VIN if the VIN meets the criteria for those rules .
